TFW you write a book called Moist Actually
New release coming 4/18
It started with a tweet.
A little more than a month ago, I was minding my business, trying to finish my novel-length sequel to Pride and Prejudice (still in the works). And then Chris Pine posed for some photos.
I commented on Twitter, as one does, and imagined what the romance novels would be if those photos were the cover. One of those ideas was of a literary fiction author who agrees to read his neighbor’s novel, and he returns it with a note that says she uses the word moist too much and if she doesn’t fix it he’ll have to spank her, and her next edit has twice as many moists.
Someone told me to delete the tweet and write the book myself.
I took half of that advice.
The plot is pretty much in the tweet, but I added a wee bit of talking before they get to the spanking, and there’s a grand gesture as well. It’s supposed to be light and fun. The main characters make each other laugh, and there’s no third-act break up. The word “moist” gets used plenty. Authors might say this a lot, so take it with a grain, but there’s a chance it’s the steamiest book I’ve written.
For whatever reason, the title MOIST ACTUALLY popped into my head early on, and I stuck with it. If I had to do it over, 10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT MOIST would have also worked. But it wouldn’t have been as funny.
Anyway, it’s done, and it comes out on Tuesday, April 18, and the cover looks like this:
If that sounds like your cup of tea, it’ll be available as an ebook on Tuesday, and possibly as a paperback in the future. Links are below.
That’s it for now. I have more book news, but it can wait. Happy reading.
